José Masdevall Terrades Llobet, Figueras, approx. 1730. – Trujillo, 1801) studied medicine in Cervera and Montpellier and later became physician to Carlos III and Carlos IV. He was commissioned to investigate an outbrek of tertian fever in the area of Tarragona, Lérida and Solsona in Catalonia. This study, the result of his investigations, came out in three editions in two years. His therapeutic methods were highly praised and the work was translated into Italian, German and French. Palau 157128. There was a supplement on the noxious effects of the wool and cotton mills in the area, which is not included in this copy.
Small ink initials on the title page, and the ink has eaten through the paper; some further ink marks on title, and light foxing on the preliminaries; interiors clean.
