Ángel Martín de Lucenay (Badajoz, Spain, approx. 1890 - Mexico D.F. 1960) was, apparently, a doctor and "diplomado en sexología", from the Escuela Libre de Sexología de Río de Janeiro (which appears never to have existed). The Spanish Instituto de Ciencias Sexológicas was only founded in 1973; it would appear quite possible that his professional qualifications were as false as his second surname. However, he was a prolific author on his chosen subject, writing all sixty titles in this series, and publishing further studies in Mexico (where he lived after leaving Spain in 1938, during the Civil War) and Argentina, as well as the text for the popular Mexican comic series 'Chanoc'. The book is essentially prurient recopilation of earlier studies of sexuality in Africa and Asia (and profoundly racist, with the chapter on lynching in the US blamed firmly on the licentious nature of the black population.
