Bohemia, founded in 1908, is the Cuba's oldest and most popular magazine. The ethnographer and anthropologist Fernando Ortiz (Havana 1881 – Havana April 1969) is considered to be the pioneer of Afrocuban studies, and author of various of various works now considered classics on the subject. He founded the Sociedad de Estudios Afrocubanos and the journal Estudios Afrocubanos
