This is one of the most attactive, elaborate and delicate of all the Vigía covers we have seen: the cut out figure of the author, strikingly printed in black andon white, gazes at the bough of a tree, illumintaed in green and holds his own book (a real miniature Vigía book, with pages, bound with a piece of string), as he kneels at a windowon a sack of straw (real sacking, real straw), in a sawdust floored granary (real sawdust, real grains); behind him are some ears of rye in an embroidered bag (real rye, real cloth). A paper sickle hangs by a piece of real string from a wooden beam (on the back cover the Vgía quinqué hangs from another beam). A paper scythe, rake and pithfork have been cut out and mounted, as have the various elements of wooden structure. The title, which has been torn out, is mounted on a fretworked paper gate. There is a string tie in the form of a noose that sticks out from the back cover; no twin tie on the front cover, but it does not appear to be missing: the only photo we have seen of another copies shows no ties - there are varios nooses, either drawn or made of string on the covers and in the interior, but we cannot see the relevance of these nooses to Lundkvist's life or work. The risographed text is printed on various papers tah differ in colour and texture. Number 66 of 200 copies. Please do check out the additional photos of this beautifully designed book.
