The front cover displays a level of elaboration and craftsmanship that could only have come from the mind of Rolando Estévez: the main image is a black drawing, a very dark drawing, laden with symbolism. This drawing, like a view from a window, is framed on two sides and is crossed by the horizontal black slats of a shutter, over which hangs a pleated paper blind, running on two fine threads, bearing the book’s title. At the top protrudes a paper circular saw, a wooden strip with a piece of ceramic tile glued to it; in the frame there is a paper butterfly, pinned through with a pin, its wings spread. On the back cover, a piece of charcoal glued onto red paper cut into the shape of a vigia flame, on a piece of jute sackcloth, on a crescent of corrugated cardboard on the base drawing cut into the shape of a circular saw (yes, it’s a bit complicated). Risographed text on kraft and white paper, with a sheet cut into circles. Even in a collection of Vigía publication, the diversity of materials used is impressive. No. 80 of 200 copies.
