A single leaf, copperplate, printed on one side, being a specimen of a calligraphic hand with flourishes, for use as a model by 'escribanos' (lawyers' clerks and notaries). For Mateo Sánchez see Rico & Sinobas, p.161. and Cotarelo & Moro, 1042. Rico says that Sánchez, "floreció en Madrid en la segunda mitad del siglo XVII", but then contradicts himself with "pudo florecer por los años de 1625", and the specimen here is dated Madrid, 4th August, 1610. The text itself is of some interest: addressed to the town council of Antequera, it orders them to facilitate the visit of the bishop of Jaén to Murcia where he is to arrest the murderers of one Simon de Vrossa, a treasury official. Deckle edges, with two small marginal tears, one just touching a word. Calligraphic specimens of this date are very rare.
