Mimeograph edition of the typed text, one of Vigía's 'pergaminos', or scroll publications, typical of the early years of the Matanzas publishers, with a string to hang it from. Design and illustrations (illuminated in orange and brown) by Hiram Aguiar Hernández de Alba.
This edition was published during the Cuban 'periodo especial', after the collapse of the Soviet Union, when their support foir the Cuban Revolution dried up, and all goods became scarce on the island. Typically, Vigía publications from this period were increasingly economical in their use of paper.
Laura Ruiz Montes is the principal editor of Vigía. Eliseo Diego (1936 - 1994) was one of the leading poets of the Cuban Orígenes group of the 1950s.
